Kroger Rejoins TRICARE

April 2025, Vol 2, No 4

Two years after leaving the TRICARE Pharmacy Program network, the Kroger Family of Pharmacies has rejoined the TRICARE Pharmacy Program network.1

This means that after the February 5, 2025, announcement, TRICARE beneficiaries now have access to more than 2200 additional network pharmacies across 35 states, including at locations like Baker’s Pharmacy, City Market, Dillons, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, Harris Teeter, King Soopers, Mariano’s, Pick ’n Save, QFC, Ralphs, and Smith’s.

The retail network pharmacy left the program in January 2023 over a pricing dispute with Express Scripts, the TRICARE pharmacy contractor.2

Kroger Pharmacy requires network pharmacy copayments to have patients fill prescriptions there, with prices for a 30-day supply hovering around $16 for generic formulary drugs, $43 for brand-name formulary, and $76 for nonformulary drugs.

Military families have other options to fill prescriptions, including at military pharmacies, through TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery, and at other network pharmacies.
