TRICARE Encourages Patients to Use Preventive Health Services, Including Vaccines

March 2025, Vol 2, No 3

TRICARE covers doses of vaccines in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, and a recently issued statement1 encouraged physicians to encourage patients to get preventive health services, including vaccines, particularly against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) by:

  • Encouraging patients to visit a military clinic or hospital
  • Encouraging patients to visit a retail network pharmacy
  • Encouraging patients to visit a Tricare-authorized civilian provider

Patients are encouraged to contact providers about RSV vaccines if they are: pregnant, 75 or older, have chronic health conditions, live in a nursing home, or have a child with increased risk for RSV, such as

  • Premature infants
  • Children with chronic lung disease
  • Children with weak immune systems
  • Children with severe cystic fibrosis
  • Native American and Alaska Native children
