AMSUS Kicks Spring Off to an Informative Start

What a way to begin March! At a time when federal healthcare is changing significantly, in large part due to President Donald Trump’s second nonconsecutive term election, AMSUS was perfectly timed.

The team at ImPACT and Amplity was well-represented at this meeting, not only to meet attendees and cover some of the key sessions that were held but also to discuss our unique array of custom solutions for the multiple exhibitors and healthcare professionals in attendance.

One of the most inspiring discussions was at the very beginning of the meeting, where Steve Ferrara, MD, who is Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs; and Steven L. Lieberman, MD, MBA, FACHE, FACP, who is Deputy Under Secretary for Health of the Veterans Health Administration, addressed their key priorities that will likely shape the future of military and federal medicine in the coming months and years ahead. Key members of AMSUS also gathered and recognized some key professionals in the federal healthcare space at their awards ceremony.

A separate panel discussion during the meeting focused on leadership and growing teams and educated attendees on best practices for implementing specific techniques for fostering an outward-minded culture within their teams, promoting accountability and collaboration, and developing and executing an action plan for balancing short-term performance pressures with long-term organizational health in their specific context.

As regular attendees have come to expect, the meeting also covered an array of topics with advice for everyday practice, from addressing obesity to mental health challenges in caretakers, to addressing cancer care in the federal healthcare space.
